The Seven Silent Crises Facing Metropolitan America
(New Metropolis Lecture Series - UAP)

Bill Hudnut will discuss challenges metropolitan areas in the U.S. face in their quest to revitalize
themselves and construct healthier urban futures that are less characterized and shaped by the negative
effects of sprawl, car dependence, and income segregation. These challenges range over issues of
regional governance, land use planning, infrastructure development, global warming and high energy
costs, the provision of workforce housing, re-integration of retail development into communities, and the
adoption of sustainable practices.
