Paper-making Workshop with Artist Gibby Waitzkin
(Horticulture)
Gibby Waitzkin, a paper-maker and photographer from Floyd, VA, who creates hand-made paper compositions, will reveal the science behind her paper-making process. She will provide a hands-on demonstration of the meticulous process required to create the unique paper for her art mementos from nature, transforming them into parts of a composition. She grows and harvests the fibers, cooks, and pours the pulp to create sheets of paper, and seals each composition in beeswax. The process is amazing!
Waitzkin's work is on exhibit at the Hahn Garden Pavilion at Virginia Tech during the months of May and June, 2017.
The fee for the workshop is $150, which includes lunch. Must pre-register by Monday, June 12th by contacting Stephanie at vtgarden@vt.edu or 540-231-5970. Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 15.
