Sustainability Week: Recycling Fluorescent Lamps

Mercury is a pollutant that poses serious environmental and human health risks. As a result, there is a statewide effort to properly manage and recycle mercury containing products. Fluorescent lamps are one of these products. Commercial properties are major generators of fluorescent lamps, so it is important, and sometimes required, for these properties to properly dispose of lamps by recycling them. Property owners, managers, and opinion-leaders are invited to participate in a breakfast workshop aimed at increasing lamp recycling in commercial properties in Blacksburg. Presentations will further explain why and how to recycle lamps, and dialogue will be encouraged. Breakfast will be provided by Awful Arthur's Seafood Company. Please join us in this effort to reduce mercury contamination in our community. Attendance is by invitation only.
