American Indian veteran Powhatan Redcloud Owen (Chickahominy/Mohawk) will share his experiences as he served abroad for the United States armed forces. He will reflect on cultural understandings of warfare as it differs from Western traditions. Karenne Wood, a Monacan poet and anthropologist, will read original poetry and discuss the complexities and politics of contemporary Virginia Indian identities in a global context.
