World Food Day
(Special Event)
The 24th annual World Food Day teleconference will be held on Tuesday, October 16 between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. in Meeting Room A of the International Affairs Office Building (526 Prices Fork Road). Hosted by Ray Suarez, a senior correspondent for the Jim Lehrer NewsHour, the live broadcast will feature a panel discussion with three eminent climate specialists: Suzanne Hunt, former team leader of the WorldWatch Institute’s landmark report; Cynthia Rosenzweig, a senior research scientist and leader of the Climate Impacts Group at the NASA Goddard Institute; and Stephen Schneider, a professor at Stanford University’s Department of Biological Sciences and Co-Director of the Center for Environmental Science and Policy.
Climatologists now overwhelmingly agree that climate change challenges world stability. The teleconference theme, “Climate: Changes, Challenges and Consequences,” addresses one of the most urgent issues of our century. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the Blacksburg community.
