Taking It to the Web: Political Participation in the Internet Age
(Seminar/Conference)
The rapid development of new information and communication technologies over the past three decades has brought new ways of participating in collective decisionmaking, new ways of seeking power, and new ways of wielding it.
This Choices and Challenges Forum covers the proliferation of technology-mediated forms of political participation: web-based campaigns and fundraising, networked and globe-spanning movements, extremist groups adopting a network structure with the aid of the internet.
Two background sessions in the morning are followed by the main panel at The Lyric from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Follow-up session from 2:30-3:45 back in the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown.
