Leaders in Science and Technology Seminar Series: Ben Shneiderman

The Virginia Tech Research Center -- Arlington is launching a Leaders in Science and Technology Seminar Series with a lecture by Ben Shneiderman, professor in the Department of Computer Science, founding director of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory, and a member of the Institute of Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Titled "Information Visualization for Knowledge Discovery," Shneiderman's presentation will discuss the integration of statiscs with visualization as applied to temporal event sequences such as electonic health records and social network data. He will include a review of a growing number of commercial success stories.
Following the lecture, Shneiderman will sign copies of his newest book, Analyzing Social Media Networks with NodeXL. Copies will be available in Arlington for purchase.
The Leaders in Science and Technology Seminar Series is sponsored by the Office of the President, Virginia Tech, and the Office of the Vice President, National Capital Region.
