Urban Design Seminar Series: Conversations on the Public Realm in the DC Region
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Paul Kelsch, associate professor of landscape architecture, will present "The Cultivation of the Potomac River Landscape," as part of an interdisciplinary Urban Design Seminar Series, Conversations on the Public Realm in the D.C. Region.
Kelsch will outline the ways in which this "designed landscape, and the stewardship of this landscape, have evolved over time with changes in attitudes about ecology, commemoration, and the role of the public and voluntary sectors. The talk is based, in part, on an extensive historic landscape and management study for the George Washington Parkway that Kelsch conducted for the National Park Service.
There will be an opportunity for questions and answers and light refreshments will be served following the event.
The Urban Design Seminar Series is sponsored by the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) and the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC). More information...
