Dr. Zandria Robinson
The University of Memphis

Dr. Robinson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Memphis. She earned the Ph.D in Sociology from Northwestern Univeristy in 2010.

Dr. Robinson's research focuses on the post-Civil Rights black South, with attention to the histories, cultures, and ideas generated by regional insiders and outsiders. In her book, This Ain't Chicago: Race, Class, and Regional Identity in the Post-Soul South (University of North Carolina Press, 2014), she draws on ethnographic data and analyses to examine southern regional cultural distinctiveness as an "accomplishment" that occurs in film, music, popular media, and everyday life.
