Two Bands, Two Countries: Boundaries & Bridges
(Special Event)
Khumariyaan and the Boston Boys. Khumariyaan hails from Peshawar, Pakistan, and one of their band members says of their music, "In our country and particularly in our region, playing music, or indeed anything that is art, is a form of resistance, a resistance that many have paid for with their lives, yet the Pushtoons love their music" (lead guitarist Sparlay Rawail). The Boston Boys are equally talented; they have traveled abroad for the State Department, and they played for President Obama.
