University Bookstore Homecoming 5K

The University Bookstore's annual Homecoming 5K and 1.52-Mile Memorial Run will be held on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, to wrap up the weekend's Homecoming festivities. Virginia Tech Recreational Sports is partnering with the VT Police Department to remember Officer Deriek Crouse, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2011. The 1.52-Mile Memorial Run represents Officer Crouse's badge number of 152.
The 1.52-Mile Memorial Run will begin at 9:15 a.m., outside of the Ambler Johnston buildings on Washington Street. The University Bookstore Homecoming 5K will begin at 10 a.m. at the same location. Immediately following the race, a pizza party and award ceremony will be held at McComas Hall.
The winners of each 5K age group will receive a prize glass and the first 50 finishers of the 1.52-Mile Run will receive a ribbon. Award winners who are unable to attend the post-race awards ceremony may pick up their prize at 142 McComas Hall Rec Sports Administration Office until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014.
Pre-registration is not required but is available until September 25 at 5 p.m. at a reduced rate of $10 for the 1.52-Mile Memorial Run and $20 for the Homecoming 5k. Walk-up registration will be available the morning of the rat at $15 for the 1.52-Mile Memorial Run and $25 for the Homecoming 5K. Parking for the event will be available in the Cassell Coliseum lot at the corner of Washington Street and Spring Road. Please refrain from parking on grass, non-marked spots, shoulders of the rode, and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Medicine lot. Arriving early is highly suggested to ensure a parking spot.
