Reception for Cloud Exhibit in Ballston

Ruth Waalkes, executive director and associate provost, Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech, and Ben Knapp, director of the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, will discuss the multi-media Cloud exhibit on display in the lobby of the Virginia Tech Research Center -- Arlington.
The Cloud was commissioned by the Ballston Business Improvement District in Arlington. The organization reached out to employers in the community to form groups to participate in a teambuilding exercise that involves programming their own cloudlet to react to its surroundings with light and sound. The exercise, in Wellborn Square, a public park in Ballston, culminates in an outdoor public event of light and sound on the evenings of Oct. 2 and 3, before it is moved to the lobby of the Virginia Tech Research Center.
