Dr. Arvind-Pal Mandair, Associate Professor and S.C.S.B. Endowed Professor of Sikh Studies, Dept. of Asian Languages and Cultures, University of Michigan

Prof. Mandair will speak about the assumption that violence can be categorized as "religious" or "secular." Can we move from Sikhism as a "religion" towards Sikhism as a "vestigial state," that is the institutional and cultural reminder of an older sovereignty?
