Log Archiving/Analysis Working Group Town Hall - Oct. 27, 2014
(Administration)

WHAT: Log Archiving and Analysis Working Group Town Hall Discussion
WHEN: October 27, 2014, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Assembly Hall, Skelton Conference Center, The Inn at Virginia Tech

OVERVIEW:
The Log Archiving and Analysis Working Group is charged with developing recommendations and proposing a plan for the implementation of a log archiving and analysis system and associated policies.

This implementation is aimed particularly at System Administrators who have "root" privilege on one or more servers and who are responsible for reviewing the system logs on a regular basis.

The working group will provide an overview of "the problem", the challenges, and potential solution directions for a central log archiving facility.

We are actively soliciting feedback, ideas, observations, experiences and recommendations from the community at large.

We anticipate that policies will be developed, which will clarify the responsibilities for system administrators to maintain system and application logs.

The Town Hall will be conducted as a brainstorming session with lots of discussion and ideas being generated.

Location: Assembly Hall, Skelton Conference Center, The Inn at Virginia Tech
Price: Open to all (no fee)
