SIREN Seminar: Allison Macfarlane

The Honorable Allison Macfarlane, chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, will give the opening keynote for a new, monthly speaker series: Seminar on Interdisciplinary Research and Education in Nuclear Emergency Response (SIREN).
The series will feature leading international experts on nuclear emergency response. Hosted by the Department of
Science and Technology in Society, the series is being presented as part of a National Science Foundation CAREER grant.
Macfarlane, who also serves as the director of the Center of International Science and Technology Policy at The George Washington University, will discuss the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's recent efforts to improve emergency preparedness and response capabilities at U.S nuclear power plants.
Graduate students are encouraged to arrive at 11:30 a.m. for an opportunity to chat with the speaker.
Light refreshments will be served.
