[CANCELLED] Determinants of Drug Preference in Humans
(VTC)
Harriet de Wit, PhD
Professor of Psychiatry, Behaviorial Neuroscience, and Biological Science
University of Chicago
Chicago, Illinois
A seminar in the Research Institute Seminar Series
Dr. de Wit will discuss her research the behavioral effects of drugs of abuse in healthy young adults. She will address several questions, including i) why individuals vary in their responses to drugs, ii) how physical and psychological contexts alter responses to drugs, and iii) how people develop associations between environmental stimuli and the effects of drugs. Much of the research is translational, in the sense that the study designs parallel procedures used in laboratory animal models. The overall goal of her research program is to understand both the determinants and the consequences of drug use in humans.
