SIREN Series: Doug Chapin

Douglas Chapin, Principal Officer and Director of MPR, a private engineering firm based in Alexandria, VA, will present a Seminar on Interdisciplinary Research and Education in Nuclear Emergency Response (SIREN) on "Fukushima Accident Recovery, Decommissioning and Decontamination."
Chapin is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and serves as Chairman of the National Research Council's Board on Energy and Environmental Systems. He has extensive experience in electrical, chemical, and nuclear engineering, with particular application to nuclear and conventional power plant systems and associated components. Currently, he serves as a member on the Light Water Reactor (LWR) R&D work group, a joint industry and DOE activity.
Graduate students are encouraged to arrive at 11:30 a.m. for an opportunity to chat with Chapin.
Light refreshments will be served.
The SIREN series features leading international experts on nuclear emergency response. Hosted by the Department of Science and Technology in Society, the series is being presented as part of a National Science Foundation CAREER grant.
