Musica Viva Presents: Folklore in Music: Brahms, Bartok ,and Klezmer
(Music/Theatre/Dance)

This is a very special concert, featuring an incredible clarinet player from Serbia, and wonderful guests.
The program is dedicated to folklore in music, starting with the famous clarinet quintet of Brahms, which includes a movement influenced by folk musicians, and Gipsy violinists. This follows with a trio for clarinet, violin and piano by the great Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, which was dedicated to the famous Clarinet player Benny Goodman. Bartok, who championed the folk music of his people, introduces here dances and folk tunes, and the piece ends in a frenzy. The concert ends with Klezmer music (Jewish folk music influenced by Gipsys). This program should be attractive to all music lovers.
The musicians: Nikola Djurica, clarinet; David Ehrlich and Wanchi Huang, violins; Amadi Azikiwe, viola ; Benjamin Wyatt, cello; Teresa Ehrlich, piano
