Beards in History 2: Theodor Herzl
(Academic)
Please join the Dept. of Religion & Culture for their Fall 2015 lecture series, on the theme of "Beards in History." What does facial hair mean? What can we tell about the past by looking at how people are presented? These informal presentations will open up lots of room for discussion.
Prof. Rachel Gross (Judaic Studies) will talk about the founder of modern Zionism, Theodor Herzl, and how representations of him (and his facial hair!) changed over time, reacting to his contemporary situation.
All are welcome. More information...
