Big Read NRV presents Tim O'Brien, author of The Things They Carried

The Things They Carried is a critically acclaimed work of autobiographical fiction written by Tim O'Brien. Based on O'Brien's experiences as a solider in Vietnam, the book - a collection of thematically linked stories - constitutes a thought-provoking examination of a controversial war. It was a finalize for both the Pulitzer Price and the National Book Award.

Free copies of The Things They Carried can be picked up beginning Monday, Sept. 21, at any of the Big Read NRV partner locations: Radford University's McConnell Library, Radford Public Library, Virginia Tech's Newman Library and Department of English, Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library, New River Community College Library, Pulaski County Library System, and Glencoe Museum & Gallery.
