Data Management Bootcamp
(Research)
Students, faculty, and staff interested in learning more about data management issues and best practices are invited to participate in this one-day Data Management Bootcamp.
Data management is an important topic for researchers and scholars across domains, especially as funding agencies increasingly require submission of data management plans with grant proposals. Data management plans are documents that describe the data and metadata that will be gathered in a study, and the processes for preserving and sharing that information.
These new requirements encourage researchers to plan ahead for data management and sharing. In doing so, they will help to promote practices that facilitate reproducible research, data use and reuse, and interoperability among distributed systems.
The keynote session includes a guest lecture by Virginia Tech researcher Peter Sforza, Director of the Center for Geospatial Information Technology (CGIS).
Morning and afternoon sessions include: Data Management Overview, Writing a data management plan, Data storage, Data archiving, Data documentation, Library Data Services, and more. More information...
