MI + SPIA Spring 2016 Speaker Series: Stephanie Moulton -- Effects of Information on the Decision to Obtain a Reverse Mortgage: Evidence from a Federal Policy Change
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)

Stephanie Moulton, associate professor and director, Doctoral Studies for John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Ohio State University, will present "Effects of Information on the Decision to Obtain a Reverse Mortgage: Evidence from a Federal Policy Change."

In her talk, Moulton will discuss data obtained before and after the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development policy change in the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) program and test how counseling for seniors effected the application rate. Findings show that enhanced counseling is associated with a reduced likelihood of obtaining a HECM.

The analysis informs important policy questions about the effects of mandated information on complex consumer decisions.

Doors open at 6 p.m.
Lecture begins at 6:30 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served.

The 2016 Spring Speaker Series is a joint effort of the Metropolitan Institute (MI) and the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA).
