Individual Conflicts of Interest and Commitment
(Research)
University policy requires all investigators to complete initial and periodic training on Conflicts of Interest that includes informing investigators of the new regulations, the institution's FCOI policy, and of the investigator's disclosure responsibilities that meet or exceed the regulatory requirements. Federal regulations require all Public Health Service investigators to complete training prior to the award of a grant or contract. This session will provide the basic framework for assessing potential conflicts of interest or commitment and outline related procedures for the management and monitoring of external activities in a manner that will both promote and safeguard the interests and reputation of Virginia Tech, its faculty and students, and their research.
Target audience: Individuals required to complete training include, but may not be limited to, principal investigators, co-investigators, project directors, postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and any other person deemed responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of research.
Online Option: This workshop can be viewed live online as well as in the classroom. If you sign up for this session, you will receive a link and online meeting instructions approximately 1 day prior to the workshop. For questions please contact Vicky Ratcliffe at vratcliffe@vt.edu.
