Worker's Compensation: More Than Moral Hazard at Work
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Adrienne Edisis, visiting professor at the Center for Public Administration and Policy (CPAP) will discuss Worker's Compensation: More Than Moral Hazard at Work.
Employment in alternative work arrangements has nearly doubled since 1995, accounting for nearly all of the net employment growth in the U.S. economy since the Great Recession. The rate of reported work-related injuries and illnesses has consistently declined over the same 20+ year period.
Edisis' research investigates a point of intersection of these two trends. A national, large scale, multi platform mobile phone-based survey yields surprising insights into workers' compensation claims and behaviors of temp worker and standard workers, which raise policy questions.
This talk is part of the Research in Progress (RIP) Series at the School of Public and International Affairs.
