Open auditions for Shakespeares Garden: An Immersive Sound Stroll
(Music/Theatre/Dance)
Open auditions will be held for "Shakespeares Garden: An Immersive Sound Stroll Through His Sonnets, Soliloquies, and Scenes" Nov. 29 and 30 from 6pm-9pm.
Using the spatial audio and video projection capabilities of the Cube in the Moss Arts Center, this collaborative project will create an immersive theatrical experience for students, faculty, and the general public.
Small groups of audience members will follow a meandering path through the Cube. As they stroll, audience members will hear Shakespearean sonnets, soliloquies, and scenes (selections curated and directed by theatre faculty members Amanda Nelson and Natasha Staley). The Shakespearean works will be complemented by sounds of the garden (original music composed by music faculty member Charles Nichols).
While the aural components are the cornerstone of this project, visual elements will be used to augment the experience. Graphics (text and image) will be projected onto fabric, strategically hung in the space to help guide audience members through this immersive experience. Meaghan Dee, a faculty member in the School of Visual Arts, will design the graphics for the project.
Student performances of the selected texts will be recorded in the Theatre sound recording studio and will then be set to play in the Cube for this immersive experience.
We invite you to join in this pilot performance program. We are looking for 7 or more actors to join the creative team.
