Women and Gender in International Development Discussion Series
(Special Event)
Dr. Rebecca Williams will discuss gendered performances, masculinities, and (dis)empowerment through the intersection of food insecurity, migration, and violence in rural Honduras. Dr. Williams is an assistant research scientist and human and institutional capacity development officer with the Global Research Engagement and USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems at the University of Florida. Her research has two primary focuses: the connections between climate change, violence, and migration; and gender and participatory development with a focus on natural resources and indigenous communities.
The Women and Gender in International Development Discussion Series is organized by the Center for International Research, Education, and Development (CIRED) and is an InclusiveVT initiative of Outreach and International Affairs. The series offers an opportunity for scholars and development practitioners to share their research and knowledge surrounding gender and international development with the Virginia Tech community and beyond.
Light refreshments will be served.
