Charles Dye: Towards Decolonizing Media: A Discussion of Creative Work
(Research)

The Virginia Tech Center for Humanities presents a series of talks by faculty research associates who will discuss their work, with a Q and A session to follow. All talks are free and open to the public and we invite anyone to attend. To register, click the title of this presentation, or the "more information" link below.

Charles Dye's multi-modal film work supports decolonizing projects around the world. From non-fiction projects for Public Television to fiction screenplays, short films and far-flung experiments, he seeks to create not only culture-shifting, widely seen movies, but also to define more equitable and inclusive ways of making cinema. Dye's work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and on NBC's Scholastic.com, as well as on the History Channel and the National Geographic channels, and on other national and international cable networks.

Charles Dye is assistant professor of Cinema Production in the School of Performing Arts. His work centers on the negotiation of identities beyond mainstream representation. "Towards Decolonizing Media: A Discussion of Creative work addresses trauma, privilege and inclusion.
