SHO - A virtual poetry reading by Douglas Kearney and videos by Laura Iancu
(School of Performing Arts)
The Rose Library at Emory University is excited to host a virtual reading featuring poet, performer, and librettist Douglas Kearney, and a video screening of works by visual artist Laura Iancu.
SHO is the result of months of fervid collaboration between Laura Iancu, Instructor of Cinema, School of Performing Arts, and poet/artist Douglas Kearney with support from curator Nick Twemlow and ElectroChemist / Vodou Composter Val Jeanty.
These innovative artists will hold a Q&A right after the event. Link to the Q&A will be posted in the YouTube Live chat during the event.
Kearney will read from his brand new book, Sho (Wave Books). He is the author of six previous collections and is the recipient of a Whiting Writer's Award and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly Award for Poetry. He dropped Fodder (Fonograf Editions), his first album (vinyl & digital), in collaboration with Val Jeanty, in March.
Visual artist Laura Iancu works primarily in hybrid video forms and immersive 3D animation and gaming. Her multimedia work has been exhibited in galleries and theatres around the world.
Presented by the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library with sponsorship by the Hightower Fund, and co-sponsorship by Emory's Department of Film and Media. More information...
