Third Thursday Lunch & Learn - Things are Getting a Little Batty
(Special Event)

Grab your lunch and join Mark Ford, associate professor of fish and wildlife conservation, to learn more about his research.

Can you imagine a Halloween without bats? In some parts of Virginia, the bat community is facing unprecedented threats from an invasive fungal disease, wind-energy expansion, and urbanization. This talk will address how Virginia Tech researchers have been working to better define distribution, current status, and habitat associations/needs within and surrounding the commonwealth. These efforts are leading to efficient ways to monitor bats to inform other stewardship needs to minimize negative impacts and maximize positive impacts.
