Third Thursday Lunch & Learn - How Wrong Numbers Can Improve Lives
(Special Event)

Grab your lunch and join Tim Baird, associate professor of geography, to learn more about his research.

Even with smartphones, calls from "wrong numbers" can get through. How do you handle them? If you're like most people, you just say "Sorry, wrong number!" and hang up. But for Maasai pastoralists in East Africa, these random mistakes can be opportunities to connect with new people. Dr. Baird will discuss how herders on the savanna are using wrong numbers to make new friends, gain valuable information, and develop their livelihoods.
