CANCELED Jamestown to the Blue Ridge: Cooking Up 400 Years of Culinary History in Virginia

THIS SYMPOSIUM HAS BEEN CANCELED.
This unique symposium on April 20 and 21, 2007 will celebrate the rich gastronomic legacy of Virginia and its impact on the United States. Travel back in time to discuss the foods eaten in Jamestown and the early days of the Virginia colony. Speakers, including Barbara Haber and John Egerton, will focus on plantation and slave foods, the Civil War era, and progress to foods of the present day. Tour the Peacock-Harper Culinary History Collection at Virginia Tech, as well as the historic 1774 house and buildings at Smithfield Plantation. A Grand Finale Banquet featuring foods and Virginia wines ends this delicious journey into the past. More information...
