Emotional Rooms - a lecture
(Seminar/Conference)
"Emotional Rooms" lecture by Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, follows the open house for the newly renovated Center for Real Life Kitchen Design in Wallace Hall. Named by House Beautiful magazine as one of "America's Most Brilliant Decorators" for ten consecutive years, Noriega-Ortiz is recognized as one of the most stylish and influential of today's interior designers. In all of his projects, he captures an unusual sense of openness and light through the use of color, materials, architecture, and the unexpected integration of fashion in a rather timeless style. His work has been featured in over a dozen books on design as well as in style and shelter magazines throughout the world, including France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Germany, South Africa, Puerto Rico and Japan. In the United States, Noriega-Ortiz' projects have appeared in over 100 publications including Architectural Digest, Town & Country, The New York Times, Departures, InStyle, Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Interior Design, and many others. On television, he has made many appearances on HGTV, Style, Fine Living Network, and E! as well as on a 12-part documentary about interior designers by the BBC for the TLC Network, Material World. His first book, entitled "Emotional Rooms," published by Simon and Schuster's Atria division, will be available in June 2007. His lecture at Virginia Tech is sponsored by Kohler.
