Come rock with us! Neighbors Growing Together (NGT) is the intergenerational program in the Department of Human Development. NGT involves two departmental centers: the Adult Day Services program and the Child Development Center for Learning and Research. Here, the two generations provide cross-support for each other through plans created with specific goals and objectives, such as cooperation or exercising motor skills or exercising creativity.
Interactions may involve planned opportunities in which the seniors and children work on creative projects, make music, play games, or take walks. Alternately, children and adult clients may visit each other’s program with staff to share a snack, deliver letters written by the participants, or pay a friendly visit. Faculty and graduate and undergraduate students in Human Development are actively involved with the development and evaluation of the IG program, and they have presented their findings widely through conferences and research journals.
This is an opportunity to support student, child and participant scholarships.
Rocking chairs provided for all ages!
