1st Annual NRV Green Home Seminar and Tour

Learn more about green and energy efficient homes at the first annual Green Home Seminar and tour on Saturday, April 28th. Sponsored by a diverse group of partners, the seminar will be held at the Blacksburg YMCA from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the home tour will be conducted from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Seminar topics will include: why residential green building is important, designing a green/energy efficient home, working with green builders and architects, how to save energy in your home, financial and markt considerations of green building, and more. Additionally, local area green businesses will be exhibiting their wares, and participants can learn more about local organizations that promote sustainable living. The tour will feature several categories of homes, including those that are extremely energy efficient in their design and construction, utilize renewable energy systems, or utilize local building materials. Registration for the event is available from the YMCA Open University website at http://www.vtymca.org/Home.asp or by calling the YMCA at 540-961-9622. Cost is $15 per person/$25 per couple.
