Hokie Stone Bench/Plant Dedication at Northern Virginia Center
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia will host the dedication of a Hokie Stone bench and Japanese maple tree in remembrance of April 16th at a ceremony to celebrate students in the National Capital Region who are returning to their college campuses in the fall.
Donated by Brickman Landscaping, the tree is a deep maroon in the summer and will turn to a spectacular orange in the fall. The tree symbolizes both beauty and the Hokie spirit.
Speakers at the dedication will include representatives from Hokies United; Karen Akers, director, Virginia Tech Northern Virginia Center; Patrick Valentine, director, UVA Northern Virginia Center; and student representatives from Hokies United. A moment of silence will be observed, followed by a soloist and the release of a flock of doves.
A reception at the NVC will follow the dedication ceremony.
