Film screening of "Cassandra"
(Movie/Film)
Mexican-American film maker, Mauricio Chernovetzky will be screening his most recent short film inspired by Euripides' Greek tragedy, "The Trojan Women." On the edge of a rocky desolate Mexican border town is a makeshift bar and brothel called "Las Mujeres de Troya", whose only patrons are soldiers from the other side.Dona Hecuba, the bar's proprietress, routinely overlooks the preparations for the night shift. But this evening something doesn't feel quite right. Fate has already intervened in the form of Agamemnon, a powerful General from across the border, who has sent for Dona Hecuba uncorrupted, enigmatic daughter, Cassandra. Despite her mother's pleas, Cassandra willingly submits to Agamemnon's request. In doing so, Cassandra takes us on a journey that goes beyond physical barriers, pushing us to experience the very limits of perception.
