Doubt: a parable by John Patrick Shanley
(Music/Theatre/Dance)

Department Head Patty Raun plays the role of Sister Aloysius and Theater Arts professor Randy Ward designs sets and lights in this very special collaboration with the Hollins University theatre department. Shanley's 90-minute drama takes place in a 1964 Catholic school and tells the story of a strong-minded nun faced with a difficult decision regarding suspected actions of the liberal Father Flynn. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning masterpiece provides a glimpse behind the doors of church politics and traverses the clash between certainty and ambiguity. The production also will be perfomed at Hollins University and at Mill Mountain Theatre's Waldron Stage as part of the Roanoke Arts Festival and the 40+40 fest in conjunction with the opening of the new Taubman Art Museum. Hollins professor Ernie Zulia directs.
