Dr. Robert Haselkorn is the F. L. Pritzker Distinguished Service Professor of molecular genetics and cell biology at the University of Chicago and a recipient of the university's Quantrell Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching. A member of the National Academy of Sciences as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, he is past president of the International Society for Plant Molecular Biology. His research interests lie in the areas of cellular differentiation in nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria, in bacterial genomics, and in the workings of the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase in plants, parasites, and people.
