Welcome to Scholar, a robust learning and collaboration system which offers tools for research, collaboration, assessment/accreditation projects, and for teaching and learning. Did you know that Scholar provides three types of "sites" (Project, Course, and ePortfolio) and that each type of site has their own unique set of tools? Many VT faculty are already familiar with using Scholar for collaboration and research, but it is important to note that Scholar also has many teaching-focused tools found only in Course sites. As a course tool, Scholar provides online forums for discussion, tests, quizzes, and assignments, and also includes collaboration tools found in the project sites. In this "second-look" workshop targeted at faculty unfamiliar with Course sites, course tools covered will include Lessons, Assignments, Feedback, Gradebook, Sections, Syllabus, Test & Quizzes, and MimeTeX. Also to be discussed is how these tools can be leveraged for learning effectiveness and to employ time-saving strategies by employing Lessons, Email archive, Forums, Calendar, and Sign-up.
