  Extreme Mars
(Special Event)

Is one of your life goals to climb Mt. Everest? How about hiking the Grand Canyon? Why not set your sites on Olympus Mons, the largest volcano in the Solar System? Or hike Valles Marineris instead? You could be the first human to conquer those. Why? Because Olympus Mons and Valles Marineris are both on Mars. In this talk, Scott King, professor of geosciences, will explore why a small planet like Mars has such extreme features. Even if your life goals are somewhat less extreme, come learn about some of the research we are doing here at Virginia Tech to better understand Extreme Mars. Presentation will be followed by an opportunity to meet some of our Mars scientists.
