  VT Edible Books Contest
(Special Event)

Sponsored by Newman Library, the 2012 Edible Books Contest is open to all members of the Virginia Tech community and will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 in Torgersen Hall, Room 1100 from 2-4pm.

Register here: http://tinyurl.com/VTEdibleBooks2012

Just what is an Edible Book Contest (aka an Edible Book Festival)? Edible book contests are about being creative with books and food. Entries can look like, poke fun, interpret, or highlight a book or element of a book. Entries can be sweet, savory, salty, bitter...anything! You can see images from our Newman Library pilot program in 2011 on the Newman Library Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vtnewmanlibrary/sets/72157627279496995/. Many libraries host similar events and you can find other examples on the web.

If you would like to enter the contest, keep reading! The details are below.

Even if you do not want to enter the contest, we encourage everyone to come out for the event, since awards will be based on attendee votes! Voting will open at 2pm and close at 3:30pm, with awards given out around 3:45.

The Rules:
-Entries should made of edible ingredients
-Entries MUST fit within a 2 ft. x 3 ft. horizontal space (though they may be as tall as you can manage)
-Be sure to bring the book or a copy of the cover with you on March 30th!
-Entries should be brought to Torgersen Hall, Room 1100 between 12:00-1:30pm on March 30. We would like entries to be ready by 1:30 so we can take pictures. If some assembly is required, be sure to plan accordingly!
-Since space is limited, you can only have one (1) submission

Awards will be given in the following six categories (voted on by attendees):
-Best Young Adult/Children's
-Best Fiction
-Best Non-fiction
-Punny-est
-Most Artistic
-Best Overall

If you are interested in participating, please use this form to register. We are restricted to 50 entries, due to our event space. We will accept entries until we have reached our maximum OR until 5pm, Friday, March 23, 2012. Once we reach 50, we will start a waiting list. If your plans change or you are unable to enter, please let us know by Sunday, March 24 at the latest.
