2nd Annual Virginia Tech Symposium on Vector-Borne Disease Research

The symposium is open to the public on Saturday, when Virginia Tech faculty and student researchers and several visiting speakers working in the areas of Parasitology, Vector Biology, Vaccine and Drug Discovery will give back to back presentations. Given the current development in proteomics and genomics and other functional analysis tools, the meeting will take the opportunity to identify the critical needs and opportunities in vector-borne infectious disease research. Other invited speakers include Igor C. Almeida from the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso, Subba Reddy Palli from the Department of Entomology at the Agricultural Science Center at the North University of Kentucky, and Buddy Ullman from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Oregon Health & Science University.
