Freedom Farmers: Urban Agriculture, Black Resistance and the Right to Food
(Academic)

Dr. Monica White discusses her research, which investigates communities of color and grassroots organizations that are engaged in the development of sustainable community food systems as a strategy to respond to issues of hunger and food inaccessibility. For those who live in economically depressed communities, this research posits an alternative option to dependence on governmental or humanitarian agencies.

Sponsored by The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, Women and Minority Artists and Scholars Lecture Series, Department of Sociology, Department of Urban Affairs and Planning, and Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical, and Cultural Thought.
