A public lecture in the Distinguished Visiting Scholars Series
Stem cells are the building blocks of the body's tissues and hold tremendous promise for the treatment of degenerative disease. This lecture will discuss the basic properties of stem cells that make them attractive for therapy and the possible avenues through which stem cell research may lead to improved medical treatments. Lessons will be drawn from a number of tissue systems, including the skeletal muscle and hematopoietic systems.
