Multisensory Integration and Visual Perception in the Human Brain Studied with Electrocorticography, fMRI, and TMS
(VTC)
Michael S. Beauchamp, PhD
Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
Multisensory integration allows us to understand the world around us more accurately. For instance, during conversation, visual speech cues (lip movements and facial expressions) and auditory speech cues are both important for extracting the speaker's intended message. Dr. Beauchamp will describe studies aimed at improving our understanding of the neural basis of multisensory integration and visual perception.
