Alcohol Misuse Among College Students: Identifying Antecedents to Inform Intervention
(VTC)

Matthew Pearson
Department of Psychology
Old Dominion University
Norfolk, Virginia

In this research seminar, Matthew Pearson will review studies he has conducted in the past couple of years that tackle a very basic question: what distinguishes problem drinkers from non-problem drinkers beyond alcohol consumption? Some of the constructs examined include parental alcoholism, self-regulation, protective behavioral strategies, and unplanned drinking.
