Doctoral Advising - A Conversation for Faculty and Students (Pedagogy in Practice Seminar Series)
(Academic)

In late spring 2012, the Center for Instructional Development and Educational Research (CIDER) published a new issue of Pedagogy in Practice, a publication that shares stories of Virginia Tech faculty who are engaging student in holistic and transformative educational experiences through the creation of effectual pedagogy. The CIDER Pedagogy in Practice Seminar Series is being offered to enable participants to learn more about the practices shared in the publication.

This seminar will extend the discussion and practices shared in the article entitled "Assessment of Advising and Mentoring Graduate Students", and you are encouraged to join this conversation regarding advising doctoral students. Selecting committee members, mentoring and advising strategies, and ensuring student success will be cornerstone topics of this event. An interdisciplinary panel of faculty and students will be present to engage in discussion and share ideas regarding advising and mentoring graduate students.
