American Institute of Architects Blue Ridge Design Awards Exhibition/Kite Lantern Installation
(Academic)
The AIA Design Awards competition is held bi-annually for architects and students in Southwest Virginia. This exhibition will display all entries, including winners. "Kite Lantern," an installation designed by students and faculty in the Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design, is featured with the exhibition and will remain on display until the evening of Monday, Sept. 17. Interactive lighting and sounds for the installation were designed in collaboration with the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology. This exhibition is sponsored by AIA Blue Ridge, The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, and the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, led by architect Aki Ishida. A reception that is open to the public will be held in the market from 6-10 p.m., with food tastings, wine, and beer available for purchase by the Friends of the Farmer's Market. More information...
