5:30pm 		  Children's Right to Thrive: The Promise and Barriers to Putting Science into Action  
(VTC)

Sharon and Craig Ramey will use examples from their own research program to review the remarkable advances in understanding the early course of human development. They will argue that more is known scientifically than is being put into practice. They will also make the case that Virginia - and Roanoke, in particular - can become a national focal point for the integration of science and practice in health, education, and well-being.

A public reception will precede this event in the VTC Cafe at 4:30 p.m.
