Now vs. Later: Behavioral and Neuroimaging Studies of Impulsive Choice in Addictive Disorders
(VTC)
Michael Amlung, M.S.
Department of Psychology
The University of Georgia
Athens, Georgia
Alcohol use disorders (AUDs) represent a major worldwide public health problem and are associated with profound economic, health, and interpersonal consequences.
Michael Amlung will present data from a series of studies investigating delay discounting in various alcohol misuse samples, ranging from social drinkers to individuals with clinical AUDs. These studies provide further clarification of the psychological and neurobiological factors that contribute to pathological decision-making in AUDs and have important implications in the areas of treatment and
prevention.
